Firsts

Even though Alex is now almost 4 1/2 years old, we had a very exciting "first" here at our house today. Alex has been working with Miss Erin in occupational therapy for almost four months. Each Monday, they work on buttoning, drawing, cutting, patterns, and many other sensory processing exercises. Alex has been doing great, and each week, Miss Erin helps him write his name. Tonight for the first time ever, Alex wrote his name on his paper all by himself!!! We are so proud of him!

His letter A looks a little like a letter H, but that is one of the things he is working on in therapy. One of his sensory processing issues is that he does not cross the midline. It is hard to explain, but as a result, it is difficult for him to draw diagonal lines. We have a lot of fun activities that we work on at home to help him.

The e is totally backwards, but he has never tried to do one of these by himself. Miss Erin always helps him with the e, so I think he did fantastic!
